New York, 2014 |
We got Axel's little end-of-semester report card today which was insightful in the way that only a two year old's report card could be.
Made me think about our collective year in review.
2014 has been a good year. After a slow, cold start which included surviving the polar vortex (while heavily pregnant), sweet Oscar arrived. Those first few weeks were a blur, but I'm glad I kept a record and I'm so glad to be his mama.
In no time we were back to our madcap plans and traveling to places like the Bahamas and to the Virgin Islands, two really special trips I will treasure for a long, long time. And we were lucky enough to have six weeks as a family in Maine, together, since Will got a big chunk of paternity leave. Will celebrated his 34th birthday; Axel celebrated his second birthday; I celebrated my 36th surrounded by friends and family.
There was a lot of sleeplessness; there have been plenty of moments of stress and disarray, of panicky 'how do we get it all done?' freak outs and insomnia-ridden nights. To anyone I have snapped at, well, it is what it is. Mostly, it was very, very good.
Now time to make some resolutions...
